Mr Giles Davies is the Director of Surgery at the Prestigious Cromwell Hospital, an International Centre of Excellence fro Breast Cancer Care and the Specialist Centre for BUPA Nationally for Breast Cancer in the BUPA Network.
Mr Giles Davies MB BS BSc. MD FRCS(Gen.Surg.) was educated at Harrow school and subsequently trained at St Georges Hospital Medical school where he obtained the Wiliam Devitt-Pendulbury exhibition for outstanding achievement in part B MB BS.
He graduated with an intercalated BSc with honours and undertook basic surgical training at the Royal London Hospital and then specialist surgical training in the South West Thames Specialist Registrar Rotation. During this training Mr Davies undertook a two year period of research at the Royal Marsden Hospital where he was awarded his MD Thesis.
His research on the prevention of breast cancer with COX-2 inhibitors has been widely published and he has presented research at international meetings in Australia, Japan and the USA. In 2006 he spent an international Oncoplastic Fellowship year at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia as the Senior Registrar and Oncoplastic Fellow where he was trained in Oncoplastic surgical techniques of the breast.
In October 2007 Mr Davies was appointed as an Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at the Kingston Hospital Breast Unit and also is an honorary Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Fulham.
In 2014 Mr Davies became an Examiner at St Georges Hospital Medical School and also sits in the interview panel for National Core Surgical Training selection. More recently Mr Davies has reduced his NHS commitment to expand a research team based at Kingston University where there is now a thriving research group of 8 researchers investigation the link between the virus that causes cervical cancer Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and breast cancer. Mr Davies has recently presented in Qatar the first ever evidence of the presence of HPV in fresh breast cancer tissue and is currently supervising 2 PhD students researching this topic further.
